History
Miss Ruby’s Kids was founded in February, 2003 by sisters Jo Fortuna and Betsy Marlow as a replication of the nationally known Parent-Child Home Program. It was initially sponsored by Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church and is now an independent 501(c)(3) organization.
Poverty and the resulting poor school performance in Georgetown County prompted the founders to look for ways to alleviate this growing problem. Miss Ruby’s Kids began working with five families in October, 2003, and now serves over 100 children in the three program areas.
